Question:

How can I stop my cat playing with the cat flap?

My cat is driving me insane. Every evening and early morning (4am!) he lifts the plastic surround on the inside of the magnetic cat flap and then lets it go. He continues to do this until I tell him to stop. He has only started to do this recently. Any ideas apart from getting rid of the cat! The noise is driving me mad.

  1. yes simple seal off the flap then lets see if your cat will close the door after going out ?

  2. You could get a dog flap.

  3. TOO FUNNY!

Poor thing is just trying to occupy it's self...

try putting felt or some other cloth on the door it's the plastic that is making the noise so that has to be muted.

Locking the door for a few days might help but then you will have to get up and let the cat out... and then YOU REALLY WILL WANT TO GET RID OF THE CAT.

the other thing you can do is put a pan of water in front of the door... so the cat can't stand there and play!

    good luck

  4. He's just trying to get your attention :) Maybe he is hungry or lonely?  My cat runs into the room every morning when my alarm goes off and starts biting my toes through the sheets!

Just seal off the flap at night if it bothers you that much.

  5. put a dog on the other side for a couple of nights!...

  6. Glue it shut

  7. He's just found out that doing that gets your attention. He's awake at 4am and doesn't see why you shouldn't be too!  Try padding it with something to keep the noise down and do your best to ignore it.  He'll probably give up and try something else . . .

  8. put som thing up a gainst the flap

  9. Most cat doors have a lock on them, so if yours does, try locking it when you go to bed and unlocking it when you wake up. If you do not have a lock, try putting something up against the door that the cat can't move, like a chair or a board. Hope this helps!
