Question:

How can I stop my cat pooping on carpet?

It's an 8yr female cat. She has been doing this for well over a year. She uses the litter box, but every few days she poops on the dining room and living room carpet. We also have a 1yr older male cat. We have tried many things to possibly prevent more pooping (carpet cleaners, odor removers, keeping litter box clean, putting food dish in area). However, nothing has worked and she continues to p**p on the carpet.

We really can't live like this, but we believe there is another solution besides getting rid of the cat. Thanks for your help.

  1. it could be something to do with the litterbox.  if i dont clean mine often enough (sometimes i just get busy, *sigh*), my cats will poo on the floor.  or maybe it is the litter.  or maybe she doesnt like sharing the box with the other cat, try to get a new box and see if that solves the problem?

also, a cat is not like a child.  if you spank, it will not know why you are spanking it, or why you are rubbing its face in poo.  it will just think your being a d*ck.

  2. It always possible that it is a medical problem.  So it's always a good idea to take your cat to the vet for a check up.

Litter box problems are very frustrating for all.....human and feline.  Here's a link that you might find helpful:

Here's a link to Cat Attract Kitty Litter.  Many have had success with this product:

    Good Luck!

  3. Well, first, you can try and see if some change affected this. When did she start? what was going on? did it start before or after you got the other cat?if you cant find anything, or if you can't change what you think is causing this, take a sample of it's poo you find on the carpet, and take the sample and the cat to the vet. DON'T punish it yet, it probably can't help itself. if the vet tells you it can help itself, then you can do punishments. it might just be the age, or it might have a disease. if you want to keep the poo off the carpet, put down lots of newspaper,so it can take a step or two before it goes, and not land it on the carpet.

  4. If you have two cats you should have 3 boxes. The rule of thumb is one box per cat plus one more. Again try some Cat Attract litter.

  5. ask the vet maybe she has a problem

  6. keep it outside

or teach it a lesson like spank it but

i mean u gotta give them discipline
