I have a cat who is about 10 months old. But she always climbs the tree in my neighbours garden and gets stuck until one of us climb it and get her down!

I'm going on holiday soon with my family who have organised for one of their friends to come every day and feed our cat.

How can I get her to stop climbing the tree? Because I don't want her to get stuck up there when I'm away and no one can get her down?

  1. you could cut its front claws but it might need them

so next time it climes the tree leave it there it wont get hurt if it falls

and it wont do it again.

  2. put your cat in a big cage when you are gona or check every windows and doors and lock them if you dont want your cat to escape

  3. over the last 20 years i have had many cats and not one of them has got stuck up a tree. cats are quite capable of getting out of trees by themselves. they get stuck because we as humans think they are stuck and when we try and get them down they back away because they think we are trying to hurt them. It may be that something frightens her into the tree, talk to your neighbour maybe they have a dog that doesn't like cats that chases her. don,t worry if she climbs the tree she will get down on her own if left alone to do so and will definitely come down when she is hungry, have a good holiday.

  4. place white pepper around the tree stump

  5. you could keep her inside? you could put some cat repellent around the tree if your neighbor agrees. you could tie up a big mean dog to the tree, if your neighbor agrees.

  6. haha your cats doing a p**s take !!! all cats can get down the way they got up she is doing it for attention if you left her to get on her own she wouldnt go up again but since she knows it gets ur attention she keeps going up!!

  7. well you could try this

Stand near a the tree and if your cat goes near it spray water on the cat.

keep repeating this routine and then your cat will get scared of the tree

  8. That's easy, keep her INSIDE.  My cats NEVER go outside.  They are much safer indoors and it is much healthier for them.  Indoor cats live much longer then outdoor cats.

  9. i know you mightent actually believe this, but cats dont usually climb trees that they cant get down! fair enough they might be scared to come down but they are ABLE and it will come down eventually if you leave it alone, because if it sees you standing down there its just going to assume that you will come up to get it as usual and not try to come down itself!

  10. my cats used to do that!

I got tired of climbing up the tree and bringing them down

because they used to scratch the h**l out of me because they

    were so scared.

so one day i just left the cat up there.

she came down when she was hungry

    lol

  11. CUT DOWN THE TREE AND SHOT UR CAT AND BRING A DOG .

  12. Barbed wire, pig wire or chicken wire about three foot up the trunk will stop her - but frankly if she gets up there she can get down! You are being too soft with her.

  13. Leave it there for few hours, don't climb after it. Thus, it will realize it's in trouble and either won't do it again, or will find out how to get down by itself.

  14. don't let her outside, or put a barbed wire around and on the tree. don't put a fence or some little gate because your cat could just use its claws to climb up them. or cut down the tree.

  15. rub vaseline on the tree branches, cats hate things that make them dirty.  or put a fake cat in the tree.

or take the cat on holiday.

  16. kill it

  17. can you put her in your house while your gone? Or have someone kitty sit? :) You could try tellin the kitty that he shouldnt do that but i cant promise ya he'll listen. Sorry :(

  18. Cut down the tree lol

  19. leave er up there for a day and hopefully shell learn

  20. First off, the fire company coming to have to rescue a cat from a tree is stuff fo TV; the cat will eventually get down on its own. But to answer you question, before you go on holiday, go to petsmart and pick up a GOOD pair of cat nail clippers. Trim her nails so they are so dull, she will be unable to climb trees ( of ruin furniture). Leave the backs a little sharp so she can defend herself against another cat if needed. Also, place powered cayenne pepper on and around the tree.

  21. If your neighbour agrees, tie a plank or scaffold board against the tree so she's got something to get down on if she does happen to climb the tree while you are away.  She probably would get down on her own eventually when she got hungry enough, but you don't want to try that out while you are away do you.  Also, for your info, our cats who went outside all their lives both lived until they were 20 years old.  I think it's unfair to suddenly keep a cat in if it is already used to going outdoors although in high rise flats, areas of fast traffic and nasty neighbours who take pot shots with airguns, I can quite understand someone wanting to keep a cat indoors all the time for safety.  Just depends where you happen to live.  Your cat is used to freedom already so you can't suddenly imprison her.
