  1. Lose Weight.

  2. Either s***w them down or put talc powder between the joints

  3. If you have sanded floor boards it will be easy to identify the ones that creak, these can be screwed down. Take care not to s***w through through pipes or cables so never s***w through the centre of a board as this is where pipes are most lightly to run with fixings on either side.

Best buy a detector for pipes and cables before you start fixing.

If you have a chipboard floor which has popped up s******g down will again solve the problem but you will need to take care with cables and pipes as before. good luck

  4. There are all sort of ways but most people can't or won't go under the floor to take care of it.

Most floors creak because of the floor board going up and down on a nail.  So if the board is screwed or glue tightly to the joist, it won't squeak.

The hard part is getting the glue or s***w in the right spot.

  5. Wood floors expand and contract depending on humidity and temp. loose boards will also creak. If you can get under the floor you could run screws (1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long depending on thickness of the sub floor and hard wood) into the spots that are creaking. This will tighten them up and keep them from creaking.

  6. The correct way to do it is to go up under the house and install some 2x 6 X braces at the spot of the floor noise to reinforce the weakening floor. Your floor is trying to tell you something.
