I think because of this habit up to now I've already stoped myself sleeping sufficiently, and I am actually tired of going to there!

  1. If you stop cold turkey you will eveuntally fall right back into drinking an abundance.  I recommend that you switch out one or two of your tea/coffee drinks for something different.  Also try decaf, that would help too and don't drink any caffine after 3pm.

    Good luck!

  2. I worked 3 years in a coffeeshop, and my advice would be to take it slow. Peoples bodies can become addicted to caffeine in a way, and stopping cold turkey if you're pretty addicted can lead to severe headaches, nausea, loss of appetite, jitters, among many other things.

Cut what you're drinking right now in half, then after 2 or 3 days cut it down to 1-2 cups a day, then just stop drinking or switch to decaf.

Or you could just try to trick your body and ask for half-caf -- the barista will know what you mean -- and start lowering your caffeine intake without lowering your coffee intake.

As far as tea, a lot of black tea can actually have more caffeine than coffee, followed by green tea, then white tea, and then herbal tea which has zero caffeine.

    Good luck!

  3. You'll just have to switch to something else.

Water would be the easiest and best for you.

You'll get headaches and get jittery, but staying properly hydrated should help some of that.

And the rest? It's going to be uncomfortable, but if you're committed to quitting, you can stick through it!

    Good luck! :)

  4. I used to drink a ton of coffee and now don't drink any at all.  What I did was mix decaf and regular coffee.  For the beginning I had a little decaf mixed with the regular coffee, then gradually half of each, then more decaf and less regular until I was drinking just decaf coffee.  I did this for about two months to wean myself off of the caffeine--I would get bad headaches if I didn't drink coffee before noon.  Then I just started making other drinks for breakfast--smoothies, juice, whatever.  I'm not a big tea drinker but I'm sure the same would work.  Hope that helps!

  5. cold turkey buddy.... you'll be jittery, have a headache and probably crabby for a few days... it's the caffeine!!!!
