  1. I usually clinch my jaw at night when I sleep.  Recently I got braces and began to wear those awful rubber bands, which made the clinching worse.  I would literally wake up and be unable to open my mouth.  My orthodontist recommended using a warm compress and massage twice a day.  So I massage the muscles (gently) right at the top of my jaw, in front of my ear.  Then I apply a warm wash clothe for 5 minutes or so, and massage again.  It's really worked. When I wake up I have no tightness or pains.

  2. if you grind your teeth at night, then you should put on a mouth guard before you go to sleep to stop that.

  3. 1) Get your psycho analysis done.

    2) Get a dentist made nightguard.
