Question:

How can I stop procrastinating?

I have an about 700 page book to read in less than a month, and I'm only 113 pages through, I want to exercise and work on my abs and biceps, I have to research colleges, and I'm laying here surfing the net.

I KNOW that this stuff is important, I REALIZE that I will be happy when they are completed, but I still feel very lazy and just plain unmotivated.

Does anybody have any tips or advice? Like something that I can actually do to get myself motivated and active.

Thank you.

  1. I've had the same problem as you ever since I can remember.  I've recently bought myself a daily planner that splits the days up in half-hour long blocks.  I make a list of everything I have to do, then fit everything into the blocks.  I don't always follow my schedule to the T, but it sure helps keep me motivated.  I almost never go to bed without doing the things that I need to do.

You don't need to buy a planner, per se, maybe just make a "To Do" list for the next day the night before.

You can also try mind games.  Reward yourself once you've crossed off a few things on your list.  Maybe an hour of video games, going out to dinner with friends, or a well-deserved nap.  I use this technique when I run.  I usually let myself have a fudgecicle if I run an extra mile or finish in a faster time.

  2. It clearly shows from your detailed explanation below the question that you are self conscious and whatever you want to do or whatever you want to achieve. You also realize, you say, that you are lazy and unmotivated. When you have analyzed yourself about you so much, it is only a matter of proper planning, programming and time management. If you properly plan and programme your schedules with a strict time management, that is sufficient. Even if you deviate slightly from the scheduled programme, you can make up. I am happy you are really on the right track. You have high hopes. All these qualities which you possess are more than sufficient to come up in life. Do not postpone or delay. Be disciplined, punctual and orderly.

  3.   easy one.exercise your brain first.then come what may.
