Lately my stuttering has been getting worse. It's so hard at school to read in front of the class stuttering without getting embarrassed. I know most people will say that in order to stop I need to take a deep breath and calm down. I've tried and that makes it worse because I'm thinking that I will stutter. I use to stutter in 2nd grade then I stopped and now all of a sudden I came to school one monday in 8th and I was stuttering. I have an uncle and cousin that stutter hardcore. I don't want to be like that.

  1. I had the same problem some years ago and only when I was over excited.

Went to the doctor, logopaedic, and she saw what was my speech mistakes, showed me how to relax before speaking, to breathe in before saying problematic words (like words beginning with letter T), not to try to speak faster than it is possible and stuff like that.

It took me only 3 times to go there and my problem was solved.

Hope you will overcome this soon ;-)

P.S. Take a look at this list: Demosthenes, Aesop, Aristotle, Lewis Carroll, Isaac Newton, King George VI, Winston Churchill, actor Sam Neill, pop singer Marc Almond.

Guess what they all have in common.

  2. the only way is if you read with someone else at the same time, saying the same thing

theres this thing you put in your ear that repeats what you say and it stops you from stuttering

  3. Have you thought about Speech Therapy?

  4. I have the same problem too!

What I'm told, is that you have to read out loud to yourself a lot. Relax, and read out loud to yourself. That way you can get used to the idea of reading outloud in front of people.

  5. My husband is a stutterer. He is obviously older than you are but he had times when he no longer stuttered and times he began again. He said that he had to stop caring what people thought of him and just go with it. He also would just stop, take his time and think about what he wanted to say before he said it.

  6. Have a speech therapy, practice talking among your family and close friends who can help you. You must know how your talking in order to stop stuttering. Take a camera or a webcam to hear what your saying in order to correct the ways your talking is. Don't be afraid to ask for help, they will gladly help you. This happened to me and now it stop except for 1 word. "Can I"
