  1. My friend has found that it's easier to stop swearing in steps. Instead of using the actual swear words, she'll incorporate some goofy slang for it - we've all heard stuff like, "Oh, fudge." That's basically what she does.

That helps her to be more consciencious of what she's saying, and by that point, it's fairly easy to eliminate it entirely from your vocabulary.

    It just takes practice.

I know, for me, it's easier to prevent myself from swearing if I just stop and think a second before I say something, especially if I'm ticked off. I feel too ridiculous using the slang, to be honest.

So I just practice NOT saying those words, and eventually, it rubs off - and you'll avoid saying them without even thinking.

    Hope that helps.

  2. it is your choice what you say...if you want to change ..you will

  3. I am a female like a trucker mouth you wouldn't beleive if you heard it. I have a daughter that is begining to imitate or trys to imitate words. I can't quit cold turkey it just wasn't working eliminate one word from your curse dictionary at a time if you use that word then put money in a swear jar (ours is superglued shut, so no one can get money out haha) it really makes you think when you don't have much left in your pocket.

    Good Luck

  4. Well first, why do you want to quit?  I'm a huge fan of language, and I think it absurd that we've marked certain words as "bad".  My kids (15 and 11) express themselves freely, but don't "swear" in front of me out of respect.  I think that's how it should be.  I myself watch in front of family, as well as friends' kids.

However, otherwise, I say whatever comes out.  I watch in certain situations, obviously, but otherwise, it's just WORDS.  Language is a tool.  Use it!

If you really want to stop, or at least give yourself incentive, throw a quarter in a jar every time you swear.  I'll bet by the end of the week you have an extra 10 or 20 bucks and your swearing has decreased a LOT! lol!

Another idea is to count to 3 before you speak.  You obviously don't want to count to 10....the party you're speaking to will think you're dense.  Taking a deep breath and letting it out, though, gives you enough time to formulate your thoughts WITHOUT any curse words, or to rephrase as you go.  Speak slowly, and keep your mind on the conversation, and you'll do fine!

  5. my friend used other words. like slangs. like dang it. or darn. sumthing a bit less than mean.  she kept on using the word c**p.  it eventually got rid of the sh&t and fu(k.  hard i know.  but just say c**p.
