  1. If you think "they" have pentrated:

    1. Back up all data

2: reformat and install Linux with Truecrypt (good password, gov. uses password list to break AES)

    3. Install a rootkit detector and tripwire or lids

    4. Regularly check logs

    5. Use GnuPG for all e-mails, encrypt all file uploads

    6. Read books on Cryptography

    7. Know that it's hard to know just who rooted you; the FBI would (and does) use outside servers for cybercrime investigations

    8. Immediately reformat your machine again if ever rooted or compromised

    9. If you don't know what any of this means, your probably not involved in anything that merits serious fear of the federal government. No, seriously, if your not involved in a child pornography trading ring or an upper echelon member in a criminal syndicate, you don't need the above.

Also, security is half physical access. A few minutes with even a secure Linux box and your data's available to whomever wants it.

  2. Encrypt your hard disk with truecrypt or PGP and don't connect to the internet or run software from unknown sources. If you want to send email set up a mailserver on your PC and only send encrypted email.

  3. Why do you think its the government?

  4. I have a similar issue, the first question, why do you assume its the US govt? There are many Private investigators and private parties that can buy this equiptment and violate your computer and telephone security. There are also innumermable forgein entities that are spying on US citizens. its hard to prove. The way you can BEST TELL But not exclusively..when you boot up your computer Press F1 key continually. this will bring up your bios. You can see in the bios if there are additional master slave bios settings, when your computer is booting up on start up you can see if your computer is shadowed. They can use satiellited equipt and live nearby you .. even if you are NOT WIRELESS.. they can hijack your system. Keep copies, make police and FBI reports if you have documentation.  ITs not easy. A skilled private investigator can help alot.. but theyre very expensive. A visit to the FBI office in your area discussing what has occured could alleviate your suspicions.. its not always the GOVT spying on you.

people who are nuisances, and in underground organizations do this too. Report what you can SHOW.

  5. actually is no way goverment may have software that we don't know

as long as you online goverment will know maybe while we talking about this goerment reading it *YOU WILL NEVER KNOW*

  6. Unless you are Osama bin Laden they are not even aware of you.

They would tap your phone first.  Like Georgie has been doing since 2/2001.

They do not have the budget to hire folks like me to watch folks like you. Really.

You could encrypt everything.  Or just don't break the law.

Offload everything and delete the rest.

Really if you are not a big time crook, they don't even know you exist.

  7. if u dont have internet or anything that can connect ur pc to someone else like internet noone can connect to ur pc.

  8. Well if you want anyone to stop hacking  into your computer, just disconnect your pc from the web. That is the only option. Its because when you get to the internet you have minor security holes.Any website or person(in this case its the government)could plant a key logger through your security hole without you knowledge.A key logger is like a virus but it keeps track of what you type on the computer(i.e passwords, user names, and personal info, and credit card numbers,etc..)But if you want to keep using the web change your internet behavior,go only to trusted sites, don't open your spam folder in your in box, don't go to adult and warez sites.Have a nice day!:)
