How can I stop the mosquitoes from biting me?

I have citranella candles and bug spray and they still eat me alive. My husband, on the other hand, is not bothered by them. Seriously this is driving me nuts. I love to sit out on my front porch and read, but the $#@*! things drive me back into the house.

~~Take  a spray bottle and fill half with the amber colored Listerine and half with water. They hate this stuff and won't bite you again. You can even spray the surrounding area for extra protection, and it will last several hours.~~

There is no magic bullet. It takes several tactics. First, get a propane fired mosquito fogger. It works well, far better than candles. Keep you grass short, they lay in it when the wind blows. I've heard that eating a match head will repel them but I'll never try it. I've also heard garlic works...but again, I'm skeptic. Try the fogger, it'll help. And then of course the obvious...repellents work too, and there are many to choose from.

The latest thing I've read about is vanilla. Just dab a bit on a few spots on exposed areas. I havent tried it myself, but everyone who has says it works.

it coudl be the type of bug spray u r using...you coudl get one of those tent type things in ur backyard that has liek a fence thigny bt ur still outside?...its also true that theyre attracted to hairspray, perfume...that kinda thing...

It's true garlic does keep them away. I use to get bitten all the time and started using garlic in my food and they no longer bother me. I use the diced garlic they sell at Costco to cook.

You won't believe this, but my father-in-law is a woodsman and he swears by dryer sheets.  I don't think there is a particular brand, but it seems to work.

i know this sounds crazy but it really works. do you like garlic? eat a small piece and they wont bite you ..they hate it.

Not an answer to how to get rid of them but to as why you get eatin alive but he doesnt. mosquitoes prefer certain blood types over other. They love the 'A' type and hate 'O' types. I dont know why this is like that but it is. Best sugestion is to cover up though.

burn a match then eat the head of it the sulfur will repel them. Its tried and true.
