Is there any product you can add to the water to stop it from going green?

I get so fed up with changing the water every week

  1. I would add a tablespoon of chlorine bleach, same thing used in swimming pools.  Slowly add more over the course of a few days until you see a diference.

  2. You can add a tiny amount of household bleach to the water, only if you have no "pondlife" in it. The bestway to keep your water feature clear is to add some airiating (oxygen ) tablets to it . They are the same as for a fish tank. This will not harm any wild life. Good luck

  3. algaecide. If you have anything living in it make sure you pay close attention to Parts per million as most doses are based on per gallon of water.

    Good luck.

  4. Chlorine base toilet cleaner.

  5. You can add a fountain or waterfall to ciruculate oxygen into the water.  Then buy a couple of 10 cent goldfish. It's even prettier and they take care of the green.

  6. Do you have fish in your water feature?  I wouldn't recommend chlorine in that case. Try a pet store to see what you can do to keep the algae down.  Sunlight also encourages algae growth.

  7. Contact a pool supplies firm for an algicide. Some work by stabilising bleach (sodium hypochlorite) and some work on their own.

  8. bleach. not knowing what size I can't say how much for sure. If it is a indoor fountain teaspoon - tablespoon

Outside fountain 1/8th cup - cup again depending on size

  9. http://www.pondlady.com/Articles/pondalg...

is an article that I wrote about keeping pond water clean.

If you have just water and no plants or fish, you must treat it like a swimming pool and add chlorine every few days.

  10. i had the same problem , but what i do is use food colouring, a few drops,in the water , i use red, blue. etc. and it doesn't stain the features, hope this helps

  11. add a tiny drop of chlorine.

or if it is like an outdoor water feture which is big enough, add some small pond plants like you do in fish tanks to keep the water clean.

  12. I have a large water feature and felt exactly the same as you.  There is a product you can buy, Morrisons sell it and it keeps your water feature water clean.  It is £6.59 a bottle, but apparently lasts for ages.

Sorry I cannot remember the name of it - Wilkinson sell it too.

    Good luck.

    :)

  13. add chlorine if no fish in it as this will stop algae growth
