hey everyone! , I just need some help with my sit and camel spins , my problem is that 90 % of the times that I'm doing a sit or camel spin, I travel , instead spinning on one spot , i believe that it happens more in my sit spin that my camel , but I obviously need to fix that in both of them.

please , any help will be welcome!

  1. When you do a regular spin do you travel. If you do not travel during a regular spin, it means you have found your CENTER.

You know that spot on the ball of your foot, just the sweet spot of your blade...Do not drop into your sit spin until you have found that sweet spot, you will be able to feel this going into your sit. as for the camel that is a tough one, only practice will fix that. learn your center once you have it you will hit it every time. Balance is a huge thing, while your off ice, barefoot ONLY....get into your sit/or camel position,.....find the ball of your foot, get that feeling.....STAY THERE....and keep repeating...Once you have that feeling off ice, put yoru skates on..stay off ice, do it again....several times...then get out that and find that feeling.

    Good luck

  2. Don't worry this is easily fixable, I used to have the same problem but with all of my spins. My coach recommended doing some yoga and/or pilates. Pilates I'd say is more for toning your muscles and yoga is more for flexibility and core strength. The combination of the two is great but if you can only do one I'd recommend yoga.

If you went to a wal-mart or store that sells dvd's or has a fitness section you could get a yoga dvd (I recommend a Rodney Yee one) to do at home or if you want you could sign up for a yoga class in your neighbourhood.

I found that not only did the yoga improve my balance but it also toned my body and relieved a lot of my stress.

    Hope I've helped:)
