How can I strengthen my over hand volleyball serve?

  1. use a medicine ball & throw it over hand to someone.

    make sure you're toss is good.


  2. flatten your hand when you serve and throw the ball up catch it at a high point because your gonna swing down fast and hard causing the ball to go downward fast and hard making it a straight ace

  4. im just 12, turning 13 in a couple of days...ive been playing volleyball since i was 10... i just tried spiking/over hand serve last year... i just practiced and practiced a lot... i swing faster.. faster and faster... it will take for months to strengthen it and to make it faster... now, my spike is still not that much faster, but my teammates told me that my spike is getting stronger and stronger... so i think that the key to strengthen ur serve is PRACTICE A LOT, you should have the DETERMINATION AND PASSION for volleyball, of course SWING FASTER.. and HIT HARDER!!! you could also build up your muscles... so you can swing faster and hit harder... this is based from my experiences!!! hope i helped you...

  5. practicing alot helps the most but if u cant always have the net, then just take a ball and hit it against a wall...also weights and pushups strengthen the muscles you use for your serve

  6. well theres two things that will realy help, but first i have to tell you its not totally about muscle, its mostly about how you strike the ball, if when the ball hits your wrist it makes a slapping noise, your not keeping your wrist firm enough, this will cause the ball to get more power when you hit it,

    Heres an excersize you can do to practice striking to ball

    1. Find a brick wall

    2. be about 10 yards away from it

    3. hit the ball at the wall, (remember, hitting it your hardest doesn't help, its how you strike the ball)

    4. when the ball hits the wall and bounces off the ground hit it at the wall again.

    5.keep repeating this process until your sick of it

    remember firm wrist for power, for no power do what you were doing and i advise you not to if you want to get the ball over the net
