How can I study for my global history final exam?

So, I've been breezing through my 9th grade global history class all year--the teacher is really easy on us, and I haven't needed to study for barely anything the whole year. Now it's exam time, and I'm looking back on my insufficient and poorly organized notes and biting my fingernails. The teacher gave us a VERY general outline of what will be on the test, but we covered so much material during the year that I can't even begin to imagine studying for the exam. It's like a gigantic brick wall.

P.S. The exam is on Monday. Yes, I shouldn't have been procrastinating all this time.

  1. Go through the chapters in your book that you have covered. Try to get the main idea of what each chapter is about, and focus on the main events that happened in the time periods you covered. If your book has a small section at the end of each chapter that sums it up, read that as that will give you a better understanding. Even if your notes are a bit unorganized, try going through them as I am pretty sure some of the points in your notes will pop up on the exam.

  2. my global exam is tomorrow too! i don't know if you live in new york state or not.. but i'm going on http://www.nysedregents.org/testing/socs... and it has past exams. i'm doing these practice exams and then looking up what i got wrong in my notes or online. i'm procrastinating, too, don't worry. good luck!!

  3. Do one of these, take a break, then do another:

    * look at all photos & graphics and read the captions

    * read the headings and subheadings

    * read the bold faced words and the sentences they are in

    * read the chapter overviews

    * read the chapter summaries

  4. Here is one of the hardest lessons of life: breezing through doesn't work.  You are now finding this out when it's almost too late.  Anyway, go back and review all your notes and whatever other materials you have at hand .... including any past tests you've taken (if you saved them).  That's all you can do right now.
