How can I study in New York city without spending too much money?

Question

I want to study arts (something in film, theatre, culinary arts or history) in New York, but I don't have thousands of dollars, and I couldn't possibly save up enough money to attend a full-time college term there anytime soon.

I was wondering if there are other programs, institutions, or something along those lines, which aren't very pricey, and will accept students from Canada.

Preferably a term no more than 1-7 months in length.

I live in Toronto, and I love it here, but I have always wanted to live in New York, even for a little while, for personal/career reasons.

Any suggestions/ideas?

instead of NY, try eicar in paris.  its less than half price for a film sch.  its impossible to live without $2000 per month minus room rental.
