If the magazines you're interested in are available locally, pick up a copy of them and look for the subscription information that's always printed in them in one form or another.  That will tell you how much a subscription would cost.  I'm not sure if the cost given is in US or Canadian dollars; but it should be specified somewhere.  Anyway, the current exchange rate is about US$1.00 = Can$1.02; or Can$1.00 = US$0.98.
