Two of the biggest things you can do to be successful in business (or in anything else really) are:

1.) Discipline - to work hard and keep going

2.) Networking - forming great connections with others in the business, government and non-profit communities.

School / education are important so you know the techniques for business. Really though, most of your learning will come on the job through experience. If you can master the two skills above  you'll be successful.
