I have been battleing with being a vegetarian for about 4 years and I just can't seem to stick with it for more than a few months. All of my friends are meat eaters my family and mostly everyone that I meet. I know of the health reasons that cause people to go vegetarian/vegan so I can never feel ok eating meat. I mainly eat it when I am stressed or feel off. Eating meat is like a drug for me. I only eat it to sooth me but feel totally bad for eating it afterwards. I would love to communicate with someone daily who is a vegetarian to support and guide my journey without being bias of me starting over and knowing the benfits of vegetarinism but not sticking to it. Thanks in advance. Peace and love to all. Chianu

  1. I live in a house of meat-eaters and i've been a vegetarian for 3 years. It's easy if you cook your own food. I would never trust my family to cook my food cos they don't realise that you can't use the same utensils, plates etc they have been handling. Plus, they wouldn't think to wash their hands after touching meat (which i'm always nagging them about). So as long as you're happy preparing your own food, then it shouldn't be an issue. If you really care that much about being a vegetarian then nothing should come in your way. If you want to be one, then stick to it.

  2. Yeah, you're right. You absolutely have to get some vegetarian friends. Strength in numbers. Read the '101 reasons to go vegetarian' on the web. You need more than health reasons for firm conviction. You have to be convinced. You have to know about the sufferring. Just take a family member and go visit a slaughterhouse for a day. Guaranteed to turn your stomach for life.

Think about the humane aspects of saving lives and your involvement in their killing. Make friends with a cow on a small farm. Adopt a cow (pay for it's maintainance) in a cow protection scheme such as the Hare Krishnas do. Visit their vegetarian websites. Read "The higher taste" small book.

Actually visit Hare Krishna temples and restaurants in all big cities for delicious free vegetarian feast every Sunday. If you talk with someone there they can also tell you heaps of reasons to be vege.

So get associating with Vegetarians and realize that there are really serious reasons to be vegetarian.

If one person in a family can stronly maintain it, it has an impact on the whole family. They slowly accept when they see you succeed.

    Good luck

  3. join the club... as soon as I move out I am cutting out the meat.  Good Luck.  Oh and if you private message me your email I'd be happy to support you...  eating meat is pretty gross when you think about it.

  4. I became Vegetarian in almost a full household of meat eaters.  I was told if I wanted to eat different from the household  then I'd have to buy my own food and cook my own food! I also had to label my fake meat  vegetarian!   One of my sisters went more drastic she began Vegan.    I actually wasn't true Vegetarian when I was still with my parents..  I still ate fish!  So I was semi-vegetarian!

While you're living with meat eaters don't pick on them for eating meat.  You don't have to eat when they eat! So you can avoid seeing them eat meat!

Some people just can't give up things!  I never liked the taste of meat in the first place and never felt right eating it!  My Vegan sister doesn't understand why I make fake meat if I didn't like real meat!  I like the convenience of burgers, hotdogs, meatballs  and fake ones don't really taste the same as real ones!

  5. I've been a vegetarian all my life because my mum wouldn't let me eat meat. my dad and friends all eat meat, and i know there is a social peer pressure to eat meat. if you need any support the email me at jd_thunderbird@yahoo.co.uk, and I'll be happy to help you^.^
