I am planning to get an unlocked mobile phone from a Chinese mall here in Canada. If what I recieve is fake, what should I do? (China has made a fake version of the phone I want to get) - Oh yeah, I want to get the Samsung Soul U900!

  1. We can't protect ourselves from unsafe products coming from China.... what makes you think you've got the ability to do anything about buying an illegal product from them?

There is precious little you can do. You might be able to sue them in abstentia within a local magistrate up there in Canada but actually collecting from them simply won't happen.

Did you purchase with a CC? If so, your CC company MIGHT have some buyer protection service.... otherwise you're SOL.

  2. Tried and true gems of wisdom:

       1. If something seems too good to be real, it probably isn't

       2. You get what you pay for;  sooner or later you pay for what you take; and there is no such thng as a free lunch.

       3. Let the buyer beware.

  3. This question is basically a repost of another one of your questions.  When you buy something illegal, you run the risk of it being fake.  It's your choice.  It'd be hilarious if you sued, but ended up getting arrested instead.

  4. Report them.
