How can I survive a something like an asteroid or other apocalyptival event??

I have heard of people that have built underground rooms. I guess you could steel frame it. I don't think you have to worry about that anytime soon though. At least I hope.

Find out where it is going to hit, and go to the other side of the Earth, as far inland as you can get, with 2-3 years supply of food and water. In a cave on top of an old mountain range would be good, but make sure it is seismically stable, and not likely to collapse. Make sure your sanitation needs are met (you don't want to be living in your own filth). Take only the essentials with you. Don't expect to be the saviour of mankind by repopulating the world - that will only happen if there are enough survivors afterward.

Dig a deep hole that is highly fortified somewhere very much inland in stable ground with a water source and stock it with enough food for years.  Then install some kind of generator with enough fuel for years.  And then hope the apocalyptical event doesn't occur on top of you.  And then arm yourself because any other survivors will likely kill you for what you have.

If you live, your long term chances of survival are bad.  There will be devastation all over.  Dead everything everywhere.  Disease and pestilence (insects and rats) will reign.  Every day will be struggle.

Maybe the ones who die outright are the lucky ones.
