I swim, and I'm pretty fast, but I want to beat a school record or something. What are some tips to make me go faster? I mainly swim Freestyle, Breaststroke, and Butterfly.

Thanks in advance!

  1. ask michael phelps :)

  2. First off start out w/before meets eat lots of calories and carbs. Also here's the important thing:

Your streamlines are incredibly important. Make sure that your arms are completly outstretched and pressing against your head. Push off strong and streamline for a good amount of time.

  3. consume more calories (gotta burn em off though)

  4. try flipturning at the end of every lap also take a breath every 3 strokes in freestyle. wear tight swim cloaths as to keep from extra pull

  5. Before races, prepare the correct way (get enough sleep, get some carbs..etc)

To help yourself swim faster, I would sit down before your race and drink some gatorade and eat a granola bar (i prefer rice krispies) or something.

To get faster in freestyle, when you kick, try kicking just below the surface of the water, hard, becuase all the way under is too hard, and too high above doesnt give you much momentum.

For breaststroke, the key is to get a quick stroke, and a glide that fits for you. What also helps is for your kick to 'snap' all the way together so that ur feet pretty much touch.

Butterfly, i would recommend doing kicking drills, ungulation drills, and drills that help your tecnique, so when it comes to swimming fast, you have some tecniuqe to help you swim even faster.

In all for each stroke, make sure your starts are good, good, tight streamlines, firm pushes off the wall, and great finishes.

    hope this helps :)
