  1. Hello, I own eVentureBiz (http://www.eventurebiz.com), a web hosting & development company.

Basically, there are two parts to having a website up online:

    - domain name hosting

    - web hosting account

These two things are actually separate from one another. I'm assuming what you're doing is you've bought a new domain name and you want that new domain name to be your "website," which will replace your current domain name (but the website will look the same).

I wrote an article on how people can switch their web hosting / domain name from other companies to us. I think you might find it informative:

Hope this helps. Of course you could always "try" to reach Yahoo tech support, but that is a feat all on its own. You should reconsider using a different company to host your website.

  2. Try to visit this website, you can find many useful information on web hosting, hopefully may help you:

  3. You have to remember that the hosted files and the domain are linked with yahoo. The hosted files that make up your site are locked to that domain name. You can back up you files, and create a new domain and hosting, and upload it to the new host... but the files as they are are not portable from one domain to another. The other option is to forward one domain to the other, so the hosted files appear to be at the non-host affliliated domain, but in fact are still at the first one.

  4. You wont be able to do that. Back up your files, and then upload them to the new domain/hosting account. Also if youre going to be getting a new hosting account, be sure to shop around.  Prices and incentives are changing monthly. Trygoing to http://www.hostgumbo.com/ ... they have an up to date comparison chart for the top webhosting companies this year. Good Luck!

  5. Unfortunately you cannot switch your web hosting service from one domain to another.

The best option in this case is to take a backup of your existing site and republish to the new domain.

If you used SiteBuilder to build your site, or any other 3rd party tool, all you need to do is publish to the new domain (after upgrading it to hosting if its not already one)

If you currently do not have a copy of your website on your Computer, just go ahead and import it.

If you need assistance with the same, contact Yahoo Small Business Customer Service on 1-866-800-8092 or 1-866-562-7219

    Hope that helps.
