How can I talk my mom into getting me reading glasses?

I have O.K. sight but when I get out a book I see real blurry, It only comes into focus right at my face. I keep on telling my mom i think i need glasses and i tell her what happens when sometihng i try to read gets all blurry and she always siays i am faking it. I am the only girl in my family that is not provwn to have astigmatism.

So, about the reading glasses.

From what I've read bout your sight, it seems you might be myopic (nearsighted) rather than needing reading glasses, but I'm not sure, so that's something you'll have to find out.

Because you said you get a book and it's blurry until at your face (which is close) I think you might need glasses to see far.

Reading glasses are for those who can see something far away but can't really focus up close, and it seems you can do that.

But then again, I'm nearsighted and not needing of reading glasses so I wouldn't know what the world looks like through hyperopic eyes! I mean, one can certainly read about it, and try to imagine it, but I can't experience it unless I am that way, so..... So you might be hyperopic, but from my reading of your question, it sounds like your are nearsighted....

Go online and print some snellen charts out and follow some instructions on how to test yourself to see if you need reading glasses or glasses to see faraway.

An eyechart that you can see all of faraway indicates you either have ok vision or you need to see a smaller chart with smaller letters, respectively, up close to see if you can focus that. If you can't it is likely you are in need of reading glasses.

Don't ask your mum, go see your doctor and tell him any problems. He will then refer you to the right place to get your eye tested. You sound short sighted to me, but then what do I know?

this is how my daughter got me to buy her glasses, because I honestly thought she wanted them for looks only, she told me to not complain if she gets bad grades cause she can't see the board, and that's where they write the homework or class instructions, I know this will work, cause after I saw her report card with c's and a d I asked why and she said, well is cause you don't want to buy me glasses and I can't see the board, that was 2 report periods ago, she finished school with excellent grades, so ask first and if she says no then tell her what my daughter told me  GOOD LUCK!!
