I'm 14 and a freshman in high school, yeah i know i'm still a kid. But my parents especially my dad is too strict and protective. I'm not allowed to hang out at the mall on fridays like the other kids in my grades do. I'm not allowed to sleepover at a friends house, I'm not even allowed to to talk to guys! WTH!. I get good grades so there is nothing to worry about. Please dont say "oh your still young" trust me i'm old enough to know better, or the "your dad loves you". If my dad loved me he would listen to how I feel about the stupid rules. I LIVE IN h**l WITH THEM. How do i talk to him?

  1. Ah.  Your additional details paint a clearer picture.  You obviously resent your dad, and I can see why.  You can try to talk to him and it would be nice if he listened, but he probably won't change his rules.    It sucks right now, feeling like you have no freedom, especially if others around you have lots of it.  The silver lining to your cloud is that they are the ones who are more likely to get pregnant in high school or develop substance addictions or commit crimes.
