  1. I learn from history and geography when the teachers give textbook work. Give heaps of questions, but before the lesson spend heaps of time telling interesting stories of the topic. Heaps of students like sitting there listening to stories you tell.

At the end of each topic, give a mini quiz, preferably some from past papers. I find that I achieve really when my teacher gives quizes.

For Geography, try emphasising more on Geography skills like mapping because that is where students mostly struggle in. cozz you can just memorise facts in writing part

  2. Ask your students to study a map of the USA for classwork and homework. Then have them draw a copy of the map from memory. This will give them a much better understanding of the way the country looks. Good luck, and happy summer!

  3. This will vary according to the group of students you are teaching. What you do with a mixed group of seniors will be different to what you do with a group of junior high boy students.

You have to make it interesting and relevant (if possible).

Text books have their place but are not the be all and end all.

Think about the good teachers you had and how they taught and follow their example.

A map of the USA may be good if that is where you are, however if you are in India it is of no use at all. You could use topographic maps and get students to map a course from one place to another and analyse the problems they would face making that trip.

Use your imagination and you will succeed.
