my budgie like to bite me when I pick him up. He is really hard to pick up, like he always runs away. I am very calm with him....I don't get it. He is 4 months old.

  1. You have to gain his trust first and let him get use to your hand so he won't bite it. The reason why he's biting you is because he's afraid of your hand and is trying to defend himself. So first I would suggest having him get use to your hand. You can't teach your bird any tricks unless it has trust in you first. It's also a good idea to leave your hand inside the cage for a little while each day so he begins to trust the hand and will eventually go on your hand without biting you.

  2. My cockatiel was the same way when i first got him.  I would just hold my hand in the cage for hours at a time, until he learned that it wasn't going to hurt him.  i would sit there, and talk and sing to him.  Now every  time i sing he calms down and makes cute little noises with me.

    Good Luck!

  3. put its favorite food up high around its beak and then put your fingerout and stay step up . if that doesn't work do the same thing with the food but pick up its feet like siccors

  4. go to the store buy millit its a seed it costs about 5 $ put ur hand flat on a table and make it go across your hand to get the treat it will built trust so it wont bite u

  5. i have two budgies and i taught them to get on my finger when i say step up
