  1. First things first your child has to be able to identify numbers by looking at them out of order. Then you know that he/she knows a zero is a circle and 3 is curvy. The next thing is making dot dot number sheets for him/her. From there practice, practice, practice then he/she will be writing number before you know it.

  2. Get a sand tray and write the numbers in the tray, its easy to erase and fun to practise. It must always be fun.

  3. There are three ways to practtice that I remember using when I taught .

    1) Write the numbers on pieces of cardboard.  Then make glue dots on it about one half inch apart.  When the glue dries have your child trace over the glue bumps with his/her finger.  As she/he gets better have your child try to do it without looking.  After practicing this way, make dots on paper and have your child trace over them.  Then let  your child see how many he can write without the dots.  Prase your child often for each small improvement.

    2)  Cut the numbers out of medium grate sand paper and glue them on cardboard pieces. As above, have your child trace these with his/her finger.  Then continue in the same fasion as described above.

    3) There is a song I used when I taught.  I think it went to the tune of "Here we go 'round the mulberry bush"

    It went like this:

Start at the top and then come down.

Start at the top and then come down

Start at the top and then come down,

          to make the number one.

Demonstrate writing the numbers as you sing with your child, or you may begin by writing them in the air.(Be sure you are facing the same way as your child.)

Up and around, slide down and across.

(repeat two more times ending with :)

         to make the number two.

First go around and around again.

(repeat two more times ending with:)

          to make the number three.

Down and across and then down again.

          (repeat two more times ending with"}

          to make the number four.

Now that you have the idea, I'll just give you the basic words.

Down and around then put on a hat

         to make the number five.

Down and around and a monkey's tail.

          to make the number six

Go across the top and then slide down.

         to make the number seven.

Make an "S" and then slide down.

         to make the number eight.

Make a balloon and then a stick

          to make the number nine.

(My spell check isn't working, so I hope this is accurate.  I'm not a great speller)

Good luck teaching your child to write his/her numbers.  Have fun!

  4. I did connect the dots type numbers and my niece traced them. As she got better, I spaced the dots out further until she was writing them on her own.

  5. you could tell him/ her that you are going to show him/her to draw a cool picture and draw some numbers and maybe he/she will think its pretty cool

  6. Practice practice practice.  Make it fun . . . if they do good reward them.  Get magnetic numbers and put on on the table and ask them to make that number with a crayon (way more fun than something black.)  Remember . . . make it fun

  7. There is a fairly inexpensive program called "Handwriting Without Tear." It's great!

    http://www.hwtears.com/

  8. you can first help them write, like you write the number the first time and see if they can write it if they can't then you help them write it and see if they got if they do you took my advice and did a good job and tell he\ or she they did good to cauze they're both sweeties pies

  9. First, is he ready to write?  Does he palm a writing utensil, use a pincer grasp, or have decent control over it.  Try, teaching the shapes first (if you haven't already) because children will more readily identify or recognize these in their environment (more exposure, more familiar, thus a more complete understanding and awareness)  Children generally begin to understand number concepts before learning how to write numbers so that would have to be a prerequisite beyond copying or tracing.

  10. you can teach him/her to write numbers by letting her watch a specific type of program that teaches kids to write letters, numbers, etc. At least that's what I did for my niece.

  11. Frog street press has a wonderful line of books geared toward both learning and writing numbers.  They also have some great songs for helping to learn to write the numbers!  I have found them very useful in teaching my two yr. old pre-school class!  Visit your local teacher supply to find them.

  12. starfalls.com was recommended by our kindergarten teacher.

  13. START BY HAVING YOUR CHILD TRACE THE NUMBERS

  14. Let them use shaving cream, sand, chalk boards, as well as crayons and pencils to practice writing there numbers. Just make it fun. Show them and then let them try it. Kids love to play in the shaving cream. Just spray it on the table and spread it around and write (with fingers). Good luck!

  15. Teach them sayings to remember.

Ex: (5) Down the street, around the corner, oops I forgot my hat.

  16. If your child is at least 4 years old then I would say to practice with them. I write the numbers in dots and have my class trace over them. Try hard to "read" your child's mood, don't pressure them to write or bore them by taking the fun out of learning.

  17. practice
