my husband does not read well. I want to teach him. Is there a website we can go to to order workbooks that are not real expensive. I prefer to hear from those that have done this.

  1. Phonics Pathways is a good program for adults:

  2. Ebay.

  3. I understand your wanting to use workbooks and other supplemental materials, but I would suggest just starting out by reading books! There are lots of books that are written at a level appropriate for kids and adults, and he could just read those. Maybe you could have him read out loud to you to help him with his skills.

Remember: the key to success is practice, practice, practice!

  4. I used the newspaper. It is written at a fifth grade reading level. Teach him basic rules for vowel sounds, etc. But the newspaper is great. We have always read the paper at home, and now my six year old grandson is reading it, too. He really loves the weather page.
