  1. ask them what they like to do. tell them that if they get all the words that you are teaching on flash cards right then they will get to do what they like to do. but make sure it is a smal thing to do in the classroom like playing boardgames or four corners game.

  2. Phonics is making the connection between sounds and letters. The previous answer had some good resources. Chances are, you will probably need to do some work with phonological awareness (just the sounds) first. Kids need to be able to hear the sounds in words before they can match them with symbols.

A puppet works well. Have the puppet take a picture of something the kids know from a bag and say the phonemes, segmented. /c/ /a/ /t/ (When letters are in the slashes, that stands for the sounds, not the letters) Then, have the kids blend the individual phonemes to say "cat". Repeat this until the kids are good at blending. Then, do the opposite, which is a slightly harder skill. You say the entire word, and they segment the sounds.

Rhyming is another important aspect of phonological awareness. I'm not sure how the Korean language works, or whether there are many rhyming words. But you can have kids picture sort words in English that rhyme. Demonstrate rhyme, and have them sort the pictures to show the words that rhyme. Predictable rhymes and books are also fun ways to help students hear and use rhyming words.

You can start introducing letters and matching them with sounds at any point in the process. For instance, after you have done a word sort with initial sounds, then introduce the letter that goes along with that sound. Have students experience the letter in a variety of ways...shaving cream is a long-time kindergarten favorite, but dough and other tactile things work wonderfully too. The more concrete the learning is, the longer it will be remembered.

  3. you can 1st teach them the letters then teach them rhyming also easy words also u can try and learn their laungauge sou can try and say their words 2 tell them what our words mean
