petco didn't tell me and I was wondering if his molars were grown in so I can stop feeding him wet food.

  1. In older ferrets it's easiest to tell the age by looking at the teeth, they are a very solid white and as they get older they become translucent starting at the tip and as they age moving up.

Since it sounds like you have a kit the age is best determined by your vet, he will weigh him and look at his overall size and coat; as they reach adolecence the fur changes from the fluffy baby coat as more guard hairs come in.

As for eating a hard diet it's on average started around 9-10 weeks. A hard kibble is not neccessarily the best food for them but is generally the most common and easiest for the ferret owner to offer. Be sure you have a good quality food and ideally offer 2-3 varieties as your ferret may not take to new foods when older and if one becomes unavailable or discontinued you will have a backup food to offer.

I've attached a couple links on ferret teeth, diet and a food chart for your reference. Good luck with your new baby!

  2. The vet can probably tell you an approximate age and when to begin feeding him dry food.

  3. look inside and see how many rings there is, like a tree!

  4. Take a trip to the Vet he/she can tell you how old he is
