How can I tell if I have receding gums?

My front bottom teeth are kinda bothering me. Still. It's not really a sharp pain, more dull really. But I've wondered if whether or not it's because my gum line is receding and that's causing it?

Is it pain, or sensitivity? When your gums recede, your teeth usually start feeling sensitive to cold. When you look at your teeth, can you see a slightly yellow line where your teeth and gums meet? If so, that is a sign that you have recession. This is caused a lot of the time by brushing too hard. People brush hard thinking they'll get their teeth cleaner, but it's best to brush with a soft toothbrush angling your bristles down into the gumline in little circles. If your teeth are sensitive, try using a toothpaste for sensitivity, like Sensodyne. It helps build a protective barrier over the receded area and after a few days you'll be able to tell a difference.

If you look real closely at them you can see a line on your teeth where they used to be.  I don't know about the whole bleeding thing.  My dentist says I have the gums of a 40 year old (I'm 24) and mine don't bleed when I brush.  I don't know if pain is associated with it either.  My gums and teeth don't hurt at all.

the pain is probably from sensitivity because the tooth doesn't have much gum around it, not directly from receding gums. It is pretty obvious looking when a gum starts to recede. There will be a drastic difference between the gum that has already receded and the teeth around it. You should probably consult a gum doctor (ask your dentist for recommendations..the name of a gum doctor is a periodontist ) . In the mean time, make sure your tooth paste doesn't have anything extra (like whitening ) in it to decrease the sensitivity in your teeth .

they are looser close to your teeth and they bleed when you brush
