I like to drink beer just about everyday to the point where im at a good place. But when I drink hard liquor I drink until i blackout. I just turned 21 a few weeks ago. Am I just having fun or is it a problem? I haven't got into any serious problems with work or the cops or anything.

  1. oh boy man..yeah have fun..theres lots of drunken adventures in your future.  Im 26 man and blacking out a lot is a bad sign.  watch out there are a lot of things you can f-up.  First you should make sure you never allow yourself to get a dwi.  that will f-up your job.  Drinking for too long will make you depressed and feel like shooting yourself.  Try to chill on it a bit and enjoy your youth.  21 is a great age you should be trying to get laid all the time not just getting drunk.

  2. See there's no way for us to really judge over the internet, but a good way to know is to take a break from drinking for a few days or weeks and see if you crave it. Like after a few days see if you think about it constantly or feel depressed when you aren't drunk.

If you're worried about your drinking, I'd just stick to beer since you know you have restraint with that. But overall I'd say that you're just at the age where drinking is acceptable and you're just having a good time. With me and my mates it's basically like drinking is just something we do to party and unless it becomes an obsession, then it should be fine. Just make sure you do it with other people so you're never alone if you blackout!

  3. people who dont have a drinking problem dont ask this question.

  4. Ooh! Honey, If you literally drink to a point that you blackout then, yeah..you have a problem! But everyday, Honey, that's obviously not good

It's terrible for you heart if you drink to much you could get alcohol poisoning...drink one glass of red wine each night, it's good for your heart, so try it and tell me what you think! Okay?

  5. A lot all of my friends went through periods of drinking to excess when they were younger. It was a phase they went through whilst growing up, and they were testing their boundaries. Now they're a bit older they've calmed down and drink socially with no ill effects.

There are a number of indicators of alcoholism, ranging from drinking on your own, guilt about your drinking, drinking to deliberately get drunk etc. The usual medical check for alcohol problems is the Michigan Alcohol Screening Test, which can be found here - http://www.ncadd-sfv.org/symptoms/mast_t...

If you're still concerned after looking over that site, talk to your GP

  6. If you're doing it alone, and not as a sociable thing, and it's more than one drink while alone - then I'd say yes, you do have a problem.

If you have to drink to get to a good place, that is a problem.

  7. Hi

You cant tell you must feel it!

  8. It is not alcoholism untill there will be a day when You wont be able to not drink or You will go to job/school drunk. Liking alcohol and blackouts is normal.

  9. Alcohol ruins lives. Your's is just beginning, don't ruin it before you start. Then of course theirs your family. Once you have a drink problem everyone suffers.

Whether you have a problem or not is of no consequence, but you are drinking far too much for the wrong reasons.

One question to ask yourself.....how old do I want to live to. If the answer isn't very long, then keep drinking.

To those that believe heavy drinking is a phase of growing up, well, I've seen young friends of mine die young because it was great to get stoned.
