My cat has recently been venturing outside despite my attempts to keep her in the house, since she last went out and came back I have noticed hair loss on her ears and today i came to discover a large patch and a smaller one of missing hair on her leg, there are several red marks and sores and little scabbing on the skin where the hair has gone missing.... do you think its mange or something else?

  1. Sounds like your cat is getting into fights with other cats. You might want to bring her to vet to be sure.  And don't open the door with her near it, if she goes near it squirt her with a squirt bottle. She doesn't need to go outside, doesn't seem to safe.

  2. She is most likely just getting into fights with other cats! I'd keep in her inside for a while, making sure she had no way to get out, and see if the hair loss continues. If it does, or if you are just really worried, you should take her to her vet. Best of luck to both of you!

  3. It definately sounds like cat fights...

For keeping her indoors you may want to go the spray bottle method to keep her away from open doors, or make sure people coming over know to be very careful about open doors in your house.

Meantime kitty needs to be looked over by a vet. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is transmitted in cat fights and while people cant catch it, there are other even nastier diseases that can be transmitted cross species.  Better to have her checked over.

  4. if your cat is loosing hair you should have it brought to the vet.

    HOPE IT HELPED

  5. it could be mange or it could be from a cat fight that she got into while she was out.  the only way to tell if it is mange is to take her to the vet and have them do a skin scraping.  good luck and hope she feels better soon
