Question:

How can I tell if my crow broke it's neck?

I found a sick fledgling crow in the road and brought it home. About four days later I found it lying on the bottom of it's cage, on it's stomach with it's head all the way twisted. I think it's broken it's neck but it can still move it around. It can drink water if you hold it over it.

  1. Bend it like Beckam.

  2. If it can still move it, I don't think so. The position it was in is common of birds when cleaning themselves. Though I've never heard of the laying on the bottom of the cage... I'd call a vet.

  3. Needs to go to a wildlife rehabber or vet that takes injured wildlife right away. Could be broken neck could have a disease West Nile comes to mind. Know that it is illegal to posses birds without a license so dont tell very many people you have him. Keephim warm offer him food, water. But please try to get him somewhere asap his life depends on it and thanks for helping the poor thing.

  4. You should probably take him to a vet or a wild animal rehab clinic as soon as possible.  If it is injured you'll need a professional to treat it, and even if it's not injured they'll be able to tell you what to do to keep it alive.
