How can I tell if my eye is scratched or if there is something in it?

I had something in it, maybe fiberglass or something, I'm not sure. Being the smart person I am, I paniced and rubbed my eye, so I'm sure there are probably scratches. But I flushed my eye out and it still feels like something is in there in the same spot it originally started hurting. How can I tell? I can't see anything in there. Oh, and my eye is really red, it hurts to close the eyelid, but not to keep it open, and it has been like this for about an hour.

  1. go to the eye doctor.

  2. That happened to my friend - a tiny grain of cement dust, yep, she rubbed it, then got it checked out at the hospital. They could see she didn't get it all out and it had scratched her eye   badly. The hospital flushed it out & she got an eyepatch & cream for a week.

The cream really helped but she had to be really careful going downstairs. When one eye is covered, you lose depth perception. They said she did the right thing by coming in straight away. Hop to it : )

  3. Close your eye and put a warm towel over it until you can get to aa doctor, if it doesn't quit bothering you first
