How can I tell if my gerbil is pregnant??

I just got a gerbil at the store and she was in a cage with females and males. And I think shes pregnant cause gerbils will have " you know what" when they have a chance. So she made a little hole and moved all the bedding away from it and has a really tiny bump near her privates, and when i hold her, she lifts up her belly, and i read tht could mean she is pregnant also. And normally she is a pretty skinny gerbil cause of how she looked at the pet shop. And shes staying in her hole alot. So please answer back! :o)

Hi Kylie,

There aren't many signs to tell if your gerbil is pregnant.  Check and see if she's making a large nest in the corner of the cage, and if she's hoarding food.  These might be signs.  A gerbil is pregnant for 24 days, or 28 days, depending on the gerbil.  If your gerbil is in fact pregnant, she will have pups in a matter of days.  And also, if she is, here's a great website which will assist you in helping to raise the new pups:

And, if she isn't, count your blessings, because gerbils can have up to 8 babies!
