  1. 1st off is he eating and drinking water?  What symptoms does he have that leads you to believe he's sick?  Check the color of his gums are they pink or are they a white pasty color?  Has he had vaccines and worming?

  2. A sick dog can:

Vomit, shake, have diarrhea, fall over, sleep excessively, cough, sneeze, have a running nose, runny eyes, smelly ears, run a fever, behave strangely, or any other myriad of things.

If you are worried about your dog, phone your vet and ask if they recommend he be seen.

  3. You will know if your puppy is sick when he stops eating and they have diarrhea. If he got a cold he'll probably have a runny nose just play with him and cuddle him to keep him happy.

  4. If you think he's sick don't take a chance. Get him to a vet ASAP. If something is wrong it could develope fast since he's still a puppy.

  5. The basic signs are refusing food, sleeping, drinking a lot of water, lack of energy, diarrhea or vomiting or both.

Dry nose doesn't mean anything it is not a gage of how the dog is feeling, only taking their temperature will determine if the dog is sick.  Anything over 102.5 means the dog is sick.  Dogs don't get colds.

If he has any of the above take to the vet.

  6. If he is six months old, he should have had all of his shots by now, and should not have a cold. If you think he is sick, take him to the vet and get him checked. He may have allergies also. He needs to be checked out.

  7. THERE NOSE CAN BE DRY...THEY AREN'T EXCITED TO SEE YOU...JUST A COUPLE EXAMPLES

  8. His nose will not be cold like usual, it may be warm or very dry. It could be acting weird also. I'm a paramedic, no vet haha, i'm going from my own expierence.

  9. get him checked

  10. You should call your vet and tell them exactly what symptoms you are seeing. Yes, they do take into account the gum coloration, but of course the vet really knows just what color the gums should be. Has your puppy had any of its shots, yet? If he has not, then you should call the vet RIGHT AWAY, especially if he is showing signs you are uncomfortable with. Puppies need vaccinations against some diseases, some of which can be deadly to them. That does not mean that your puppy does not just have a little cold, either. But it is more than worth it to call the vet (phone calls are free) and talk to them about your pup. See what the vet thinks. That will be the very best thing to do for your puppy. Your vet is always your best source of information on things like this.

  11. when my dog is sick her nose is dry (tho not ALWAYS sick if it is dry), she acts very lazy, not wanting to play, just wants to sleep on me.  she stops eating and drinking.  sometims she's got the runs, or throws up (but she has a fickle stomach so that doesnt always mean she's sick either).  puppies act like puppies... when they dont, thats when you start to wonder.  a quick call to the vet can help you feel better or assess if anything is wrong.  we all have off days, and puppies are no exception.
