Question:

How can I tell if someone has been murdered for insurance money?

My nephew died a year ago. It was ruled suicide so I don't think anyone could collect life insurance. Yet he has known some less than desirable friends for years. His mother is a mental patient his father is in jail and no one is asking could it have been murder for profit. it seems that there should be a data bank to say if he had insurance and if someone collected I am sure no one in my family had him insured but if someone collected on his death I would like the police or myself to talk with them. He died in a secluded area under bizarre circumstances and the police ruling is pure conjecture

  1. I'm sorry for your loss, that truly is a tragedy.  The best advice anyone can give is what I'm giving you now:  Talk to a lawyer, and hire a PI.  If you want the truth, regardless of what that truth may be, it will cost you some coin to get to it, but any PI worth his salt will get you there without milking your bank account dry.  A good lawyer will give you the legal aspects of what you need to know, as well as subpoena the attendant documents that are associated with the police investigation of your nephew's death.  Tell these people your honest, complete concerns without holding anything back.  You never know what minute detail may hold the key for discovering what the cops missed.  I hope you're able to find closure for your loss, and I hope that what I've told you here helps you find what you're looking for, which is the truth.  Good luck, and if I can be of further assistance, you can email me.

  2. An Insurance company would have required a death certificate.

    They are numbered when issued.

Find out who requested copies and how many.

    Trace them.

Don't engage in any confrontation yourself.

At best you could compromise any investigation that follows.

  3. hire a private investigator.

  4. Insurance companies still pay for suicide if the policy is more than 2 years old.     You could call some companies to check to see if he had life insurance with them.   That would require some work.

Best advice here is if you can afford it, hire a P.I.

  5. Well, it was ruled suicide, so unless you see the knife in their back, it wasn't being murdered for insurance money.

Insurance companies are on to this sort of thing.  Someone can't collect, if they are implicated in the death of the insured.

There IS no data bank that says he had insurance.  If someone DID collect, it's private information.  Only the executor of his estate would know.

MOST people don't have life insurance.  Proof - do you?  70% of Americans die without active life insurance policies.   Someone has to PAY for that policy, every year.

If he wasn't married, has no kids, he likely had no NEED for life insurance.  And frankly, that kind of mom and dad most likely aren't the type to buy it for their kids.
