How can I tell me boos that he need to chill out and not yell at everyone so much?

My boss is always yelling at us and I would really like a way of letting him know (without insulting him) that he should just calm down and rationalize without getting so upset.

Do you have an HR department?  If so, go to them and let them know you are worried for his health (make it sound like it is all about him and not you).  Maybe they have some stress management courses he can go to, or anger management....  I wouldn't go to him alone, he sounds like he may be unstable.
