How can I tell my kids why I got separated with their father?Should I tell them that their father cheated?

We got separated 7 years back when I just gave birth to my youngest son. He left me to be with his other woman. After almost a year, I went abroad to work for my kids for he does not support me in any way. Years have passed and we're still not talking about what happened or even about the kids. They're now growing but haven't asked me for I'm away. I'm taking my vacation this Dec. and would like to be prepared if ever they'll ask. But what are the right words to say? Should I tell them the truth? Should I talk to the father after all?

Facts are not always helpful things. Telling young kids the dirty details of a split between their parents only makes them insecure and gives them a guilt complex. They want to know (and you should let them know) that they are the product of a wonderful union, even if dad "had to go away". This paves the way for them to become better parents themselves, despite the odds. You help them and yourself by telling them how loved they are by both parents. When they get to maturity they will learn the truth. And then they will LOVE YOU EVEN MORE for rearing them wisely and well. That worthless man will get what he deserves in time (if not already). But don't let hate for him ruin your family's bright future..

you should tell them the truth,but not talk bad about their father to them,just tell them that he did somethings that you two couldn't work out.but don't go into details about it,and no you shouldn't talk to him.

let him come to you i say tell them the truth because if you lie in the long run you will be screwed and they might find out  that u lied to them and be upset with u and who knows how long it will take for them to get over it

If you know the truth about your husband, then it is no harm to tell them, why is the reason that you were separated. Please do the right thing for them.
