How can I tell the difference between a reining saddle and a trail saddle?

  1. A trail saddle is usually a larger, heavier saddle than a reining saddle. Usually trail saddles are built for rider comfort and since most trail horses don't have to gallop circles the saddle can be a bit bulky. Reining saddles allow for more movement of the rider and horse. Reining saddles allow for the rider to be in balance and not get in the way of their horse during the event.
