I did some cross-stitches a few years ago that I want to enter into the fair. But they categorize by aida fabric count size and I have no idea what it is anymore. I can't find the patterns at home or online, so I wasn't sure if maybe I could tell by looking at the fabric somehow if it was 14 count, 16 count, 18 count or whatever

  1. Hi,

It is simple really, just get a one inch rule and measure one inch on the fabric, then count how many holes there are between the inch mark and that will give you the count size.

  2. It goes by the inch. 14 count to the inch, 16 count to the inch, etc.  You lay a ruler on the fabric, line the 1 inch mark with a space and count the stitches across til you get to the 2 inch mark. However many stitches there are in the inch is the amount of count it is per 1 inch.
