How can I throw a party with a DJ and not have the neighbors call the cops?

I live in one of those newly built neighborhoods with the s****. rich people, and I'm throwing a party with a DJ.

How can I prevent the neighbors from calling the cops?

Find out how late you can legally play loud music, and notify the police that you're having a party (maybe bring some cookies into the police station when you tell them) ... Invite the neighbors

They'll (probably) say "No, thanks..."

But will then find it much harder to call the police on you....

Talk to the neighbors beforehand adult-to-adult.  If you are a minor, have your parents go with you.  Knock on the door, and politely explain that you are planning on having an end of summer party, birthday party, whatever on *date* from *start time to end time*.  Give them at least a few days notice.  The more notice you can give them, the better.

Let them know that you plan to have a DJ, and that the party will be appropriately chaperoned (if you are a minor).  If there will not be drinking/alcohol there, let them know that as well.

Ask them that if the DJ music gets too loud, that they please give you a call at *your phone number* and you will take care of it.

As a high school student I had a LOT of loud parties, but we always talked to the nighbors a few days before-hand.  They knew there was never underage drinking at the house, and they were happy that the kids in town had a place where they could go and have fun, see live bands, dance, etc in a safe environment.  Hopefully your neighbors will be as understanding.

EDIT:  If you are having underage drinkers, plus loud music, it sounds like an irresponsible situation.  You could be BLESSED if one of your neighbors calls the cops and it breaks up the party.  that could prevent one of your friends from dying due to an underage-drinking related accident.

~ make sure your music is at a reasonable volume ( doesnt need to be blasting)

~ You can inform the police of the party (safety issues)

~ I'm pretty sure that if the music isnt disturbing anyone after midnight than they cannot complain

Just keep an eye on the volume, and tell the neighbors ahead of time that you are going to have a party. Maybe you could ask them to call you if the noise gets too loud that way they will call you instead of the cops. Don't worry too much about your neighbors and have fun!

Soundproof the walls using Foamboard. Or three other alternatives:

1. Turn it down

2. Don't have a party

3. If they are snobs, turn it up louder!!!!

Don't blast the music. No one appreciates having their sleep broken, snob or not.

look to see if you need a licence for a party type thing like a permit. I would invite them...to create less need for them to call the cops...and usually see what the time till public noise is allowed to take place usually its 11pm yet it is good to check on that one.

I agree with everyone else either invite the neighbors,dont play the music super loud or find someway to sound proof your house a bit
