How can I track a bat to its ending location?

I see bats at night just after sunset. So how can I track them to there ending location whether it be a cave or an abandon building?

  1. You can buy a bat detector from Bat Conservation International (BCI), an ultrasonic radio receiver that will allow you to get an idea of where they are going to, or coming from.  Look ath their web site for more info.


  2. Unfortunately, it is not easy without GPS. You need to catch one using a fine mesh net stretched across one of their popular pathways. Then fit a transmitter to one of their feet. And then track it with your receiver connected to your computer to determine it's flight pattern. You can find the roosting location by locating the GPS co-ordinates after the bat has settled down in your tracking system.
