Question:

How can I train myself to actually wake up at the time my alarm(s) are set for?

Most of the time, I don't even remember hearing them go off or turning it off or punching snooze. It really is becoming a problem for me. I set 5 alarms on my phone usually a few minutes apart and I also set my alarm clock, with its own two alarms and occasionally my husband will set the alarm on his phone for me too. I am continually waking up late without enough time to get ready and make it to work.......

Last night I tried putting my alarm clock on the other side of the room so I at least have to get up. and I laid back down but didn't close my eyes. I was trying to give myself time to wake up which is something I read in a self help book lol. I almost did fall asleep again. Luckily my husband noticed and yelled at me to get me up

Anyway, anyone have any suggestions....?

  1. Hahaha

You should get the alarm clock that I got my son.

It is a robot head type.

If you don't get up, it will blast a horn, or make a chicken sound until it is turned off two times.

Go to bed early.  Do not drink any caffeine 3 hours before bed.

Be more responsible with getting up.  Your not the only one that needs to get up for work.  Think of the ones, that get up 4am!  They manage, but go to bed at an appropriate time.

  2. Get a job where you don't have to get up so early. Or go to bet early. Train yourself by getting more rest.

  3. Putting the alarm across the room is a good idea. It makes you get out of bed to shut it off, but the next thing has to be willpower. Don't ever get back into bed after getting up to shut off the alarm. If the other side of the room is too close, put it outside the bedroom door. Another thing to do is buy one of those old fashioned alarm clocks that you wind up. You have become reliant on the snooze alarm that lets your mind think that you always have a few more minutes to sleep and you have trained yourself to believe that you always have a few more minutes. If your alarm is loud, obnoxious and far enough away and you convince yourself that you need to get up and get your day underway you can train yourself to actually do it.
