I'm a freshman and kind of short, only 5'2'' (curse my height) but I'm actually a pretty good hitter. I want to be able to jump high enough to be able to snap my hand over the top of the net, or anywhere close to it.

What sorts of training can I do to accomplish this? I have ankle weights and a jumprope...hehe :)

  1. Jump into a snake pit

  2. Do some circuit training with a circuit consisting of 1-2 minutes of jump roping, 1-2 minutes step ups (you can use the first row of bleachers in your school's gym), 1-2 minutes of wall sits. Try and repeat this a couple times.

Also, something you can do at home or wherever, stand with your heels off the ground then shift all your weight on your toes as you try reach for the top of a doorway (or a certain spot on a wall, whatever works for you at your height). You'll feel it in your calves after 15-20. Try to do as many as you can, about 3 sets.

Squats help too if you have a gym membership or can get access to your school gym.

    Good luck!

  3. jump in the sand and jump rope

  4. weight training, squats and running will build the muscles in your legs

Ask your coach for exercises to gain vertical height
