Question:

How can I transfer a VHS-C tape on to a Mini-Dv?

I have a Sony DCM-HC38 mini-dv camcorder, and I have a whole bunch of old family videos stored on the old VHS-c cassettes. I no longer have a vhs camcorder, I do have the adapter to watch them through a VCR though, I also have mac computers to work with. Is there a semi-easy way to transfer the vhs-c to the mini-dv?

*please don't tell me to record the television with the camcorder*

  1. i assume you have a DCR-HC38 miniDV.

it won't be easy since the only line input to this camera is the firewire. you will need to do a video capture on your mac which requires a capture card.  once you have edited together 1 hour of video, then "print" it out the firewire to your camcorder. repeat entire process until the whole bunch is done.  if one of the macs has a DVD recorder, that might be a better option than recording to miniDV.
