How can I transfer from Natwest to HSBC? Do I need to pay a fee? Can it be done online?

I've got online banking for both banks so can I transfer it online from one bank to another bank. I am so disappointed with Natwest so want to transfer all my money to HSBC.

Thanks

  1. Set up a monthly standing order, they are free. Make the standing order to be  the entire amount amount that is in your account.

Then once the 'first' standing order goes out, cancel the standing order so the first is the last.

    Dont forget to cancel it.

If you do a bank transfer any other way NatWest charges you- hate them, i'm with them too.

You should be able to do it online- but easiest is probably just popping into the bank and do it, then you know its done

  2. If it's for a current account then just go into HSBC and ask them, they'll ask you to fill in forms and show identity to prove who you are.

They take care of the rest, they transfer your balance and even transfer your direct debits.

Sometimes takes two to three weeks for them to complete it but does save a lot of hassle.

  3. Yeah all you need to do is have any money that normally gets paid into your natwest account into the HSBC one, so if you get your wages into your natwest, give your employer the HSBC details and ask they pay it into there from now on, same with any other money you recieve. Once everything is changed over and everybody pays into your hsbc, start cancelling direct debits from natwest and reset them up at hsbc, once all money is now going and coming out of your hsbc account, ask natwest to close that account. Or i should think HSBC does a transferring service, they may charge you a small fee but it wont be much. You'll have to do it in branch though you will need to sign quite a few bits of paper and bring along any details of directs debits and standing orders!
