How can I transfer video from tapes to my computer?

I have an older Sharp video camcorder that uses cassette tapes. I would like to back up some of my old videos that are on tapes. There are no USB/Firewire/S-Video outputs on the camera itself. Is there anyway I can transfer my old videos to my computer?

It sounds like you've got an analog camcorder.  Some MiniDV camcorders have a pass through feature which allows them to act as an analog / digital converter.  Failing that you can use a dedicated converter such as the Kworld DVD Maker or the Pinnacle Dazzle.  If you need the best quality have a look at the Canopus ADVC range.
